原作は、大田雄史が結成した社会人演劇ユニット・芝熊（shiba-kuma）の旗揚げ作品として、出口明と共同執筆した戯曲「うかうかと終焉」。廃寮となる木造学生寮を舞台に、そこに住む若者たちの最後の5日間が描かれる。
