It’s 1945 and Hitler is dead. The remaining Nazi leadership is expected to surrender any day but not all Nazis are in agreement. When the guards of the castle turned POW prison, Castle Itter, flee their post, a group of French political prisoners are forced to defend themselves. Rumors of a rogue Nazi captain hellbent on maintaining the Third Reich threaten the lives of all the prisoners at Castle Itter. With the help of members of the German resistance, a small band of American soldiers, and one Sherman tank, Castle Itter makes its final stand in the final hour of WW2.

May 1945: the end of the Second World War in the Tyrolean Alps. SS man Anton has deserted and been shot. On the run from his unit, he swaps his SS uniform for that of a dead Wehrmacht soldier and discovers a lonely mountain hut. Hannah, a Jewish woman, is hiding here. She takes Anton in and tends to his wounds. But there is great mistrust between the two. Together they cope with the harsh everyday life in the remote hut. They are looked after by 16-year-old peasant girl Charlotte, whose family pays Hannah not to betray them. And at night, they hear fighting between the German troops and Italian partisans. Over time, a cautious familiarity develops between Anton and Hannah - he, who has done terrible things in the war, she, who has lost her family and has been struggling with fear and loneliness up here in the mountains for months. 1940年9月，德、意、日三国成立同盟。山本五十六被任命为日本联合舰队总司令，并不得不“违背自己的意愿”，接受命令对美、英、荷等国开战。1941后12月8日零时，山本五十六亲自下达了“1280”密码命令，并亲自率领部队偷袭美国珍珠港，从而对美军太平洋舰队造成重创，大胜而归。随后山本五十六建议与美国讲和，但意见未被采纳。在指挥中途岛战役时，由于战略上的重大失误，日本海军遭受惨重损失。形势陡然逆转，美军攻势如虹，日军兵败如山倒。瓜达康纳岛上有三万多名日本陆军，他们遭到了美军飞机的昼夜轰炸，陷于绝境。山本五十六派出舰队炮击美军基地，协助尚存的陆军安全撤退。1943年4月18日，山本五十六为了鼓动前线部队的士气，乘坐一架轰炸机到前线视察。没想到日军的密码被美军窃取，美军派出空军机队将山本五十六的座机击落，一代军人山本五十六就此碎尸于太平洋上空。
